Program Overview

The financial side of the cloud can determine the degree of your project's success. This curriculum takes a deep dive into the Financial Operations (FinOps) and pricing specific to the cloud, including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models, accounting structures aligned to workloads, cloud consumption billing, Intel and third-party tools contributing to cost management strategies and practices for Azure*, AWS*, and Google*, as well as multi-tenant cost and billing strategies.

This course explains how the billing management and reporting tools work for Azure, AWS, and GCP. It covers invoice delivery, cost and usage reporting, native cost explorer and reporting, and examples of common reports. (Duration: 20 minutes)

Continuing the Controlling Cloud Costs course, this course delves into cloud-native usage of spot instances, cost-saving tools, and the native tooling features for setting up alerts and notifications for the three primary CSPs. (Duration: 25 minutes)

This course focuses on controlling cloud costs by comparing centralized and individual account management and strategies to achieve the most cost savings from the cloud in addition to explaining the native tooling consoles from the major CSPs. (Duration: 60 minutes)

This course focuses on Cloud Service Provider (CSP) accounting structures, particularly the direct enterprise agreement between a CSP and a customer. It addresses linked accounts, organizational hierarchies, and accounting entitlements. (Duration: 19 minutes)

This course gives an overview of cloud pricing models, including different cloud purchasing models, reservations and spot markets in the cloud, the differences between IaaS, PaaS, and FaaS cost considerations, and finally, native pricing estimators across the primary CSPs. (Duration: 36 minutes)

This course provides an overview of the changing economics of the cloud and the importance of cost modeling. It introduces the Cloud FinOps field, describes the personas involved in Cloud FinOps, and their unique concerns. (Duration: 22 minutes)

This course explains multi-tenant management and its attributes. It compares billback and showback methodologies, identifies strategies to recover the overhead costs of the FinOps headcount, and identifies pooling risks associated with prepaid instances. (Duration: 19 minutes)
