Envoy is a popular L7 proxy. When Envoy is used as an edge proxy, it often must terminate lots of Transport Layer Security (TLS) connections. Envoy supports Intel® QuickAssist Technology (Intel® QAT) for accelerating TLS handshakes. This document shows how Intel® QAT provides a significant boost for TLS connections/sec in the Envoy security load balancer.
