In this Tech Talk, Silicom and Intel will present the Silicom Ibiza 1U Universal CPE, powered by the Intel Atom® x7000 processor series and enhanced with Intel® NetSec software. Designed for the edge, Ibiza consolidates networking and security into a single cost-efficient device. Silicom and Intel validated both CPU-only benchmarks and cases where AI workloads such as malware and URL detection were offloaded to the integrated GPU. On the CPU, Intel® AVX2 instructions enhance performance for vectorized and cryptographic workloads. When inference tasks are offloaded to the integrated GPU, CPU resources are freed to focus on high-throughput networking and security functions. Together, these approaches demonstrate the flexibility to optimize performance and cost depending on deployment needs—while eliminating reliance on the cloud or discrete GPUs.
