Program Overview

In the Open vSwitch Program, Intel experts discuss the use of virtual switching for network functions virtualization. In OvS/DPDK Introduction, learn about how Open vSwitch with DPDK enables accelerated guest access methods from members of Intel’s vSwitch Enabling team. The program also addresses the architecture of Open vSwitch with DPDK and its applicability to NFV applications in the OvS/DPDK Deep Dive. In the virtual switch performance (VSPERF) Deep Dive, an Intel Network Software Engineer provides an understanding of the VSPERF project. The newest addition to the OvS Program includes a course on how to use OvS and DPDK to accelerate virtual switching. DPDK 101, DPDK 201 and DPDK 2.2 are prerequisites that should be viewed prior to taking any OvS courses.

Learn how Open vSwitch with DPDK enables accelerated guest access methods in this course by Kevin Traynor and Software Developer Ciara Loftus, part of Intel's Data Center Group vSwitch Enabling team. DPDK 101, DPDK 201 and DPDK 2.2 are prerequisites that should be viewed prior to taking any OvS courses in the OvS Program.

In this course, Mark Gray, an Intel Software Engineer, helps to develop an understanding of the architecture of Open vSwitch with DPDK and its applicability to NFV applications. DPDK 101, DPDK 201 and DPDK 2.2 are prerequisites that should be viewed prior to taking any OvS courses in the OvS Program.

In this course, Intel® Network Software Engineer, Maryam Tahhan, will provide an understanding of the Virtual Switch performance testing project within OPNFV, in particular: the test specification approach, the benchmarking considerations, the benchmarking methodologies and an overview of the framework provided by the VSPERF project. DPDK 101, DPDK 201 and DPDK 2.2 are prerequisites that should be viewed prior to taking any OvS courses in the OvS Program.

In this course, James Chapman, Intel Platform Applications Engineer in the Network Platforms Group, provides a demonstration of how Data Plane Development Kit and Open vSwitch can be combined to accelerate virtual switching.
