Using Flash to substitute memory in databases can substantially increase density, reduce costs and improve durability. However, most databases access Flash through traditional storage and file system layers, utilizing only a fraction of Flash’s potential speed. As a result, companies keep using in-memory databases with expensive memory and limited data capacity and resiliency.
